Reuniting Generations: Super Visa Applications for Parents and Grandparents
The Super Visa is a unique visa category that allows parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens or permanent residents to visit their loved ones in Canada for an extended period. This visa provides the flexibility of staying for up to 5 years at a time and offers multiple entries for up to 10 years, making it an ideal choice for family reunions. To be eligible for a Super Visa, applicants must meet specific criteria, including having a Canadian host, financial support, and mandatory health insurance. It’s a valuable opportunity for families to create lasting memories and strengthen their bonds while enjoying the beauty and warmth of Canada.
WHO CAN APPLY FOR SUPER VISA?
To be eligible for a Super Visa, you must meet specific requirements, including:
A Canadian Host: Your host must be your child or grandchild and be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident of Canada, or a registered Indian. They must provide relevant documentation, including their Canadian citizenship document, permanent resident document, or a Secure Certificate of Indian Status.
Age and Residency: Your host in Canada must be at least 18 years old and living in Canada.
Financial Support: Your host must sign a letter of invitation, including a promise of financial support for the duration of your visit. If your child or grandchild has a spouse or common-law partner who is a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, they can co-sign the letter.
Minimum Necessary Income: Your host in Canada must meet or exceed the minimum necessary income to support you during your visit. The family size, including names and dates of birth, is considered when calculating the minimum necessary income.
Additional requirements include being outside Canada when you submit your Super Visa application, having the visa printed by a visa office outside Canada (as per their instructions), being allowed to enter Canada, completing an immigration medical exam, and meeting certain other conditions. Please note that dependents cannot be included in this application.
THE VITAL HEALTH INSURANCE IS REQUIRED
One crucial aspect of the Super Visa application is the need for health insurance. You must provide proof of a health insurance policy that meets specific criteria:
- The policy should be valid for a minimum of 1 year from the date of entry.
- It must be paid in full or in installments with a deposit (quotes are not accepted).
- The coverage should include health care, hospitalization, and repatriation.
- The policy should provide a minimum of $100,000 of emergency coverage.
This health insurance is essential to ensure that you have access to necessary medical care during your stay in Canada.
